It’s been a busy Autumn for CYP!

It’s been a busy Autumn for CYP!

On Wednesday 6th November we opened our first ever photography exhibition. ‘Changes’ explores the meaning of community and also showcases the amazing talent of young people at CYP.

Accompanied by music performances, spoken word, and speeches. It was a privilege for our volunteers, corporate partners and staff to get to see our young people in action.

Thank you once again to Ted Baker employee Nathan Singh being there every step of the way and providing our young people with all the tips and resources on becoming a photographer. The exhibition is still running so if you’re in the area check it out at The Gallery at Handyside, 3 Canal Reach, Kings Cross, London N1C, UK.

Thank you to everyone who came along and also to our young people for their incredible performances!

The creative juices are still in full flow here at CYP. Every Sunday, young person Moses hosts ‘The Sunday Debate’ show which is filmed live in our music studio. This chat show allows people to have a friendly, respectful debate and provides an insight into how others in this world think. You can catch the debate show over on their Instagram or Youtube channel.

On the topic of creativity, you may remember that last summer young people got the chance to write, star, and produce a short film called Secure The Bag. Directed by Femi Oyeniran and Silver Streak Films the final product can now be viewed here: https://vimeo.com/365997365/fa010f35fa. Give it a view and let us know what you think.

In other news, last week saw the Islington Volunteer Awards. Our very own employ-ability volunteer Sombo was shortlisted for the Volunteer of the Year Award. Sombo is a well-respected volunteer who has helped countless young people with their CV and finding work opportunities over the years. Unfortunately, due to stiff competition, Sombo did not win the award but she still had a fantastic time at the awards. We would like to say a massive thank you to Islington Council for hosting the awards, and for considering us.
