Islington Violence Reduction Strategy & CYPFC

Islington Violence Reduction Strategy & CYPFC

CYP has been working in collaboration with Islington on the Islington Violence Reduction Strategy. As part of the work, we have started a project called ‘Insightful Conversations’ where three groups of young people share their ideas and possible solutions on violence reduction. Conversations involved discussing education, reasons for violence, experience of violence and solutions. The second phase of this project will be team building activities alongside some solution focused conversations on addressing youth violence. Not only does this create a youth-led response to tackle youth violence but also informs the work we’re doing with Islington Community Safety to reduce violence in the Caledonian & Barnsbury Ward. The Outreach Youth Workers are linking with Islington Community Safety team and drawing up a plan in response to anti-social behaviour on the Bemerton Estate.

Additionally, CYPFC have entered the Islington Mid-Week league for their third season.  Set up and run in collaboration with the senior young people from CYP, the team have started the season well. The Football for Life programme now has all three stages fully operational and CYP will now work to stabilise and sustain this highly effective programme.

As you can tell, we’ve been having a very busy autumn and we can’t wait to see what next weeks half term holds. Already we’ve got plans for indoor sports, trampolining and Thorpe Park Fright Night!
