Kitchen Fun & Exciting Funding News!

After the fun and enjoyment that came from the October Half Term, we’ve had even more young people show interest in baking and cooking over in our kitchen. At one of our most recent sessions, a group of young people took it upon themselves to make pizzas, brownies with ice cream, as well as fresh orange juice with strawberries and mint inside the jug. The group showed great dedication splitting off into smaller groups for preparation, cooking, and cleaning.

The girls took more of a focus on making the brownies which “were delicious” and “absolutely delightful” along with other positive feedback from young people who tried some. One young person decided to use chocolate as a base in the hopes that “it will hopefully taste nice”. It’s safe to say no young people tried this pizza!

We’ve also had some amazing fundraising news come in the past month or so. We would like to say a huge thank you to Vodafone’s Charities Connected who have provided us with 50 free SIM cards. The generous donation of data will help improve digital inclusivity in our community. Additionally, The National Lottery Community Fund has funded us for two football sessions a week in our Football 4 Life programme which we are massively grateful for!

Last but not least, it was all about youth at this year’s youth debate at the Islington Faiths Forum. This year the panel were debating “Faith, Freedom and Equality: do they go together?”. The panel was hosted by very own CYP young person Antonette Bowen at Platform Hub and allowed for an engaging and valuable discourse between all manners of faith.
