New initiatives for 2021!

It has been a challenging start to the year – what with the third lockdown – but we are still open supporting the most vulnerable children and young people in our community. In addition to our three weekly outreach sessions. Our youth workers continue to provide 1-1 support to any young person that might be struggling or need career guidance. One young person even saying “I don’t know where I’d be without CYP in this lockdown!”. We are so glad to be of help to CYP members, and even though we are in lockdown we’re still running plenty of initiatives.

In 2021, we’re making children’s and young people’s mental health a top priority. We would like to thank Global’s Make Some Noise for kindly funding our new Trauma-Informed Outreach Programme. Our youth workers have been busy completing their Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP) training, and we are working on designing the sitting areas in the youth club that are conducive to positive mental health and wellbeing. The process will include selecting décor, paintings, prints, seating, and positive affirmations which can be displayed throughout the building.
The Young Creators are continuing to produce their own podcast ‘About Dat Chat’. They are also preparing to be on the planning and delivery team for the Islington Music Education online event in April. Check out their most recent podcast filmed in our music room at CYP here.
Despite everything going on in the world, we are shaping up to have a busy 2021, and would also like to thank the Paul Hamlyn Foundation for continuing to fund our core-costs.
