Success at the Secure the Bag premiere at Samsung KX

On Saturday 12th October CYP held the first screening of our new short film ‘Secure the Bag’. In partnership with Silver Streak films, young people got a chance to star and work backstage on the film which enabled them with fantastic opportunities to grow and develop their film making experience. Directed by renowned director Femi Oyeniran, the film is centred on two young men in Caledonian Road who find £10, 000 in a park. We are most fortunate that the project was funded by The Guinness Trust and for Samsung KX for hosting the premiere.

In other CYP news; CYP has now launched their very own Senior Football Club which is formed of a combination of senior and younger members. The club is now entering the Market Road mid-week league. Specific young people from the club also form part of the back room and management teams acting as board members, coaches and assistant managers. Moreover, it is developing into a wonderful example of how youth led community projects can offer so many opportunities.

In other exciting news, CYP member Ahmed Faid and Nii Lartey have now come to the end of their time in the prestigious Snapchat Snap Yellow accelerator programme. Following three months in L.A and an investment from Snapchat they will now be working on both sides of the Atlantic continuing their digital platform Dose of Society. The Evening Standard has written an article on Ahmed’s endeavours and also name-drops CYP(!) which you can read here.
As well as this, following the success of the summer circuit training, we are now pleased to offer a weekly Yoga session. This will be held every Tuesday between 7:30-8:30. It is a fantastic session with a fully licensed and professional yoga teacher so make sure you get involved!
